New Denon Micro Component System D-M38 brings more life to iPod and iPhone music libraries Denon, one of the world's leading manufacturers of high-quality home entertainment products celebrating 100 years of innovation and technology leadership in 2010, today revealed their new Micro Component System D-M38. Following the WhatHIFI award winning D-M37, this new class leading hifi-unit comes with even more clever features while delivering further improved sound quality from European sound engineers. Most remarkably, the front panel USB port now features iPod/iPhone digital direct connectivity offering dramatically enhanced sound quality from mobile players. The D-M38's compact size of 210 mm width and just 310 mm depth allows for easy setup on a bookshelf, in a bedroom or in the home office. With both beautiful sound and appearance, this high-class audio system - that comes with the RCD-M38 receiver unit and the well known and highly awarded SC-M37 speaker set - easily blends into peoples' daily life. Denon's popular M series offers high sound quality based on the "simple & straight" concept. Circuitry is uncomplicated, signal paths are short, and all adverse influences on sound quality have been minimised. The circuit design and the way the chassis is built ensure that the sound heard is utterly faithful to the original performance. In addition to regular USB memory sticks or external hard drives, users can listen to music files from their iPod or iPhone by simply connecting it to the RCD-M38's USB port with the USB cable that came with the iPod. If you plug the player into the RCD-M38's USB port while listening to a CD, for instance, music from the iPod will immediately start to play. The system will even resume the same track listened to via headphones when you plug the iPod into the RCD-M38. Digital signals from the iPod are transmitted digitally and unaltered to the RCD-M38 where they pass through the high-precision D/A converter and are processed by advanced audio circuitry to produce a clean, high-quality sound. The iPod or iPhone battery is even charged while the RCD-M38 is switched on. The SC-M37 speakers that come with the RCD-M38 have been designed with Denon's CX speaker concepts: "Simple and compact, quality cosmetic design", "Denon Hi-Fi craftsmanship" and "Professional skill for manufacturing". Since speakers are a vital factor for the sound quality of a component system, Denon decided to use the successful and highly awarded SC-M37 again for the D-M38. The D.D.L. (Denon Double Layer) cone featuring light weight and high rigidity has been used for the speakers' woofer diaphragm. This dual-layered diaphragm with ventilation holes, designed with the help of minute simulations, ensures accurate piston motion across a wide frequency range. The resulting sound delivers an enormous sense of presence and expression that is hard to imagine from speakers of this compact size. The high definition tweeter with ventilation hole prevents the dome from swelling when the air inside heats up and to maintain uniform centring of the diaphragm. Finally, the new crossover network reproduces the smoothness of natural sound expected from a true Denon. |
